Crossroads of DownEast Acadia.
While Ellsworth sits at a crossroads in DownEast Acadia—it offers visitors quite a bit more. The historic downtown is lined with lovely shops and eateries. Grab some tasty grub at the pub or enjoy a flight of locally brewed beers and ales at The Airline Brewery. Do some window shopping and browse the many shops. Art galleries and year-round cultural offerings abound for the culturally inclined.
Visit Black Mansion (also known as Woodlawn) for an accurate account of a local industrialist. Take a family ride on the historic Downeast Scenic Railroad, enjoy summer movies under the stars, or begin a trip along the 87-mile Down East Sunrise Trail or the Acadia All American Road. Hancock and Lamoine offer stunning views of Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island. The oceanfront state park in Lamoine makes an easy-to-reach spot to set up basecamp for exploring the rest of the region. Be sure to stop for succulent lobster at any of the numerous lobster pounds fired up along the road.
