On Friday, Join us for a Wine Tasting at Smuggler's Den Campground, from 4-6PM. Host Scott Sawyer from Sawyer's Specialties will be on hand to showcase more than 30 different wines from around Maine and from around the world. The fun continues on Saturday with our Invitational Beerfest, from Noon to 5PM, also at Smuggler's Den Campground.
The Festival Week continues with tours, concerts, tastings, talks and demonstrations, all designed for fun and education. Here is a partial list of events: Friday Pumpkin carving by Farming Artists on the Pemetic Green and entertainment by the Crown Vics.
Saturday Island Arts Association Craft fair on the Pemetic Green.
Sunday War Canoe and Belt Sander races hosted by Atlantic Brewing.
Tuesday Bird carving talks, demonstrations, and classes at the Wendell Gilley Museum. Guided
tours into the field by Acadia Birding Festival founder Michael Good.
Wednesday Talks and demonstrations of granite quarrying at the Maine Granite Industry Museum.
Guided tour of a local quarry led by Steve Haynes, founder of the museum. Geology
walks by geologists Duane and Ruth Braun, authors of Guide to the Geology of Mount
Desert Island and Acadia National Park.
Thursday Open house at local boat builders. Talks and exhibits on navigation and fishing by the
Historical Societies of Greater Cranberry Isles and Southwest Harbor. Guided tour of the
Bass Harbor Lighthouse led by the Tremont Historical Society.
Friday Open house at the Somesville Historical Museum and Gardens. Guided history cruise of
Somes Sound on the Sea Princess led by Tim Garrity, Executive Director of the MDI
Saturday Talks and exhibits at the Seal Cove Auto Museum. Vintage car rides at the Shops on Seal
Sunday Wraps up the Festival Week with the Running of the MDI Marathon. The Finish Line Festival in Southwest Harbor will feature food and live entertainment.
