On Thursday, June 22nd, Downeast Lakes Land Trust is pleased to welcome Ernie Atkinson, a fisheries biologist from Maine’s Department of Marine Resources. Atkinson is working on “planting” salmon eggs in coastal Maine rivers, aiding in the efforts to restore Atlantic salmon habitat. Egg planting and building artificial “redds,” or fish nests, has proven to be more successful than traditional methods. He will be speaking at the Grand Lake Stream School Building, beginning at 6 pm. For more information, please contact DLLT at (207) 796 – 2100, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
