Historical Societies

Nearly every town has a historical society, and several have historic districts. Local historical societies sponsor historic home and building tours, and special events celebrating their local history and heritage. Many have special exhibits that give insight into the community. And if you have roots in DownEast Acadia, the local historians are wonderful sources for documenting family histories and genealogies.

Call ahead and check their hours as many are open only by appointment.
