Traditional Arts

There are many forms of art here with a deep tradition.

Carvers, weavers, spinners, knitters, quilters, boat builders, canoe builders, fly tying are just some of what is available. There are woodworkers who craft everything from wooden toys to furniture to violins and decorative wooden bowls.

If you love traditional arts you will want to plan a visit to the Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival.

Also contact the University of Maine Folklife Center for more insight into folklife and history.
