DownEast Acadia offers some of the best camping opportunities available in Maine.
Visitors will find campgrounds with gorgeous views of oceans, lakes, and mountains in secluded locations and nearby cities and towns. Imagine pitching your tent or parking the RV just above the shore, listening to the sounds of the ocean waves as you fire up the grill after a day of hiking.
Perhaps you’d like to settle your RV or camper by a lake, where the campground provides safe swimming opportunities and all kinds of water activities the kids will love. Or maybe you prefer the woods—the aroma of cedar and spruce, the sight of deer, and the flutter of an escaping grouse amidst the shadowy glade.

We have campgrounds that range from simple and rustic to full-service, with free hot showers, full hook-ups, game rooms, laundry, stores, and WiFi, and some with restaurants on the premises. Campgrounds are an excellent opportunity for you to set things up just how you like—whether in a tent or RV—it’s your home-away-from-home.
Several campgrounds—particularly those part of the Acadia National Park system and Maine State Parks— offer central amphitheaters with nighttime bonfires and informational talks—a great time to get to know your fellow travelers.
While most campgrounds are open from May to October, some campgrounds in the region offer limited opportunities for winter camping. No matter the season, it’s advisable to make your reservation early.
Glamping quite simply means glamorous camping. These locations offer amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with camping. Enjoy a safari-style tent with stylish furnishings and a private bath. The kids will love staying in a teepee or maybe a treehouse. Bonus: many are even pet-friendly.
